Cupric Chloride (CuCl₂) is a chemical compound. The anhydrous form is yellowish brown (tolbachite) but slowly absorbs moisture to turn into a blue-green dehydrate (eriochalcite). Both the anhydrous and the dihydrate forms occur naturally as very rare minerals found near fumaroles and in some Copper mines.
Cupric Chloride has multiple applications. The most common industrial application is its use as a co-catalyst with Palladium Chloride in the Wacker Process. It is also used in the synthesis of both organic and inorganic compounds. It is also used in pyrotechnics as a blue/green colouring agent.
